Gold and D&D in Co-Operatives - Latest Update (KBI 2013)

UPDATE 1 @11 July 2014:
Another co-operative involved in the Dinar is Koperasi DinarPal or, KODINAR.
KODINAR is in the formative stage with a limited number of members initially.
Based on a collection of RM100 per member it can be assumed (subject to confirmation) that RM5,000 have already been collected.

Decided to make a comparison of Co-operatives involved in Gold and Dinar and their respective progress to-date.

I can only think of two Co-operatives involved partially in the Gold and Dinar. They are Koperasi Belia Islam (KBI) and Koperasi Amal Madinah Berhad (KAM).

What's happening? I think there's more to this than meets the eye!

GST for Gold and Silver Bars!!!

A friend informed that the GST will also be applicable to Gold and Silver Bar Purchase/Investment.
Definitely, a case of a tax on Investment / Savings.

Normally, Investors and/or Savers will be taxed(if any) on their Investment upon maturity and/or profits received BUT apparently  its NOT in the case of Gold and Silver in Malaysia.
What Options do Muslims have when ASB is Haram ( Reason HERE ) and the same goes for "Forced" Savings in EPF/KWSP ( Reason HERE )???

Savings / Investment Options:-
(A) Mudharabah Investment  (AMGIA / GIA)
- Returns do not keep pace with inflation.

(B) ASB/ASN
- No Brainer, "HARAM"

(C) Unit Trust
- Seriously, with the weekly outflow of foreign funds since Budget 2014 was tabled in 2013!!!!????

(D) EPF / KWSP -
 as per (B) above.

Paper Dirham in the UNITED ARAB EMIRATES

Arrived at the Dubai International Airport yesterday for an event at Al Ain's UAE University. Being used to Dirham of the Silver version, am quite (for want of a better word) "eager" to start using the Paper Dirham which I'd last used in 1991 during the stopover.

Inquired at the Airport's money changer and was quoted RM997 for 1000 UAE Dirham.
Need to look for better rates elsewhere.

The Paper Dirhams are available in 5, 10, 20, 50, 100, 200 & 500 Dirham denominations.

Visited PUBLIC GOLD Main Branch @Penang

Wanted to get some 10 Dirham coins which is to be given away as a gift.

Went to Public Gold's Main Branch at Lebuh Bishop, Penang.
Branch which is located on the same row with Publc Bank (emmm....) looks grand and clean.
Had to sign the Visitors/Client Register Book and Service was quick. However, hardly any customer was around.

Well, fast forward a few months - Xentral Methods Sdn. Bhd., a company based in Cyberjaya had published the first issue of a Digital Magazine or DigiMAG for short simply titled it  "DINAR & DIRHAM "

What kind of a future are we thinking about if there's NO physical delivery of Gold.

Apa Ada Pada Nama?(What's in a Name?)...a Friend named "DINAR"!!!

What's In A Name? (Apa Ada Pada Nama?)
...one may ask!!!??
- A name gives an impression of the Person....be it Positive, Negative or somewhere between the 2.
Almost all the time, a person do not have control of what to call himself or herself as the name is usually "given" by the parents or a very close relative.

A colleague remarked - the easiest way to stop a person from talking is to call her or his name out loud!

Due to the nature of my interest, I was intrigued when a person named "Dinar" added me on fb after my recent Public Talk in Indonesia during NLC 2013.


3 Questions that came to my mind when I first saw the name:-
(1) Is this the Person's Real Name?

(2) Is there some other meaning for the word "Dinar" in Indonesia?...and If YES, is it in Jawa, Sunda etc etc.

(3) What was the reason the person's parents gave the name? Is it based on:-
A. The Gold Dinar currency; or,

B. A verse in the Quran; or,

C. Some other meaning of Dinar in Indonesia which I am not aware of.

...Am hoping my new fb friend reverts to me soonest.

Further interactions revealed more "interesting" information, which for me sheds a whole new perspective on the Indonesians but more specifically Javanese awareness of the Gold Dinar currency.

Even more fascinating for me is the fact that Mbak Dinar has more friends with the word DINAR.
Since I'm invited to an upcoming launch of a new Dinar soon.....the research possibilities seems endless. I will have to defer my book's publication until I've interviewed a few of the persons named Dinar as mentioned by Mbak Dinar.

Unfortunately, no person named "DIRHAM" have been identified.
